Born in the vibrant city of Jaipur in 1997, the musical roots of vairaagi-x were planted early. Growing up without a formal musical background in the family, his earliest education came from the radio — absorbing raw Rajasthani folk, classic Hindi pop, and the traditional sounds of the desert. When his family got the first computer in his neighborhood, his sonic world blew wide open. Exposure to global pop, hip-hop, and eventually seeing a video of a Tomorrowland afterparty sparked a massive realization: he didn't just want to listen to electronic music — he wanted to be the one behind the decks creating it.
With his father's unwavering support pushing him to chase the dream, he balanced completing a commerce degree with learning the art of DJing at Skratch DJ Academy in Delhi. Returning to Jaipur, he cut his teeth in the local circuit. To please the crowds, he played commercial Bollywood and Punjabi tracks, eventually landing massive gigs — including an 8,000-person event just before the world paused in 2020. But beneath the surface, a different rhythm was calling. He wanted more than just playing other people's hits. He wanted to engineer his own sound.
Determined to evolve from a DJ into a true producer, vairaagi-x relocated to London to study Sound Engineering at the prestigious Point Blank Music School. Over three years, he immersed himself in the science of sound — mastering SSL mixing consoles, diving deep into Ableton and Logic, and studying microphone techniques, sound design, and composition for film and TV.
In London, he finally got to spin the music he loved: techno, house, and Afrobeats. The crowds connected with his energy, but the reality of living in the UK soon took its toll. Despite holding a post-study work visa, the relentless grind of working in betting shops, making pizzas, and bartending just to pay the bills left him with no time to actually make music. Realizing that surviving wasn't the same as living, he made a bold choice: he walked away from his visa, packed his bags, and returned to India to reclaim his art.
Returning home marked a massive spiritual and creative turning point. Rediscovering Indian classical and Rajasthani music, he realized his true calling was to merge the heavy, driving beats of underground house and techno with the ancient sounds of his homeland.
This creative shift coincided with a deep spiritual awakening. Through programs at the Isha Foundation, he experienced the profound ecstasy of mystic sounds. Inspired by the energy of Shiva, Devi, and the teachings of Sadhguru, his production took on a higher purpose — shifting his focus from simply making people dance to elevating their consciousness. He began producing tracks like the Yogi Shiva Mahadev EDM Version, moving to Mumbai to expand his technical repertoire: producing for theatre, doing foley and sound design for film pitch decks, while simultaneously developing his own releases.
The name vairaagi-x represents this entire transformation. A vairaagi is one who is unbound — someone who has stepped beyond the illusions of the world and is completely free to go anywhere and do anything. This freedom is visually anchored by the snake in his logo, an ancient symbol inextricably linked to mysticism and the coiled, awakening energy of Kundalini.
Today, vairaagi-x operates entirely outside the standard club constraints. Avoiding typical alcohol-heavy venues, he focuses on purpose-driven sets and uploading immersive indie techno performances. With heavily anticipated releases on the horizon — including his long-developed track "Kahe Sataae" and a hard-hitting techno rendition of the Hanuman Chalisa — vairaagi-x isn't just a DJ or a producer. He is a storyteller, translating the ancient, untethered spirit of India into a frequency built for the modern world.
A meditative descent into the space between breath and beat. Dissolution weaves tabla fragments with sub-bass frequencies, channeling the ancient and the futuristic into one suspended moment.
